About the Role

Retail today is no longer defined solely by stores or e-commerce; it is an integrated ecosystem where physical experience, digital engagement, supply chain execution, and data intelligence converge. We are seeking a Vice President of Retail to lead and scale a national retail organization operating across a large, multi-format footprint.

This role is designed for a senior retail executive who has successfully driven store performance, omnichannel integration, and operating model transformation at scale. The Vice President of Retail will own the end-to-end retail P&L, oversee regional and field leadership teams, and elevate execution across stores, field operations, merchandising alignment, labor strategy, and customer experience.

As a core member of the executive leadership team, you will shape how the retail organization evolves, balancing growth, profitability, brand consistency, and workforce engagement. You will lead transformation initiatives that modernize store operations, leverage data and analytics, optimize labor and inventory models, and seamlessly integrate physical and digital channels.

This is a high-visibility role with direct impact on revenue, margin performance, customer loyalty, and brand reputation, ideal for a leader who thrives in complex, fast-moving retail environments and knows how to scale excellence across hundreds or thousands of locations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Own enterprise retail strategy and execution across all physical locations and omnichannel touchpoints.

  • Lead full retail P&L responsibility, driving revenue growth, margin expansion, and cost discipline.

  • Oversee regional and field leadership teams to ensure consistent execution, accountability, and performance.

  • Drive store operations excellence across customer experience, staffing models, visual standards, and service delivery.

  • Partner with Digital, Supply Chain, and Merchandising teams to deliver a seamless omnichannel experience.

  • Lead labor strategy, workforce planning, and productivity initiatives across large store networks.

  • Establish performance dashboards and KPIs for sales, traffic, conversion, labor efficiency, shrink, and customer satisfaction.

  • Champion modernization initiatives including store technology, data-driven decisioning, and operational automation.

  • Ensure operational readiness for new store openings, remodels, and market expansions.

  • Present retail performance, risks, and growth strategies to executive leadership and the board.


Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in large-scale retail or omnichannel environments.

  • Proven track record leading multi-region or national retail organizations with full P&L accountability.

  • Deep expertise in store operations, field leadership, labor optimization, and customer experience strategy.

  • Strong understanding of omnichannel retail models integrating physical stores and digital commerce.

  • Experience leading transformation initiatives across systems, processes, and operating models.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and drive enterprise-wide alignment.

  • Strong financial acumen, including forecasting, budgeting, and margin management.

  • Partner with the CEO, CFO, and Chief Digital Officer on long-term retail and omnichannel roadmaps.

  • Support expansion strategy, market entry, and portfolio optimization decisions.

  • Provide insight into customer behavior, store economics, and operational scalability.

  • Enable transformation initiatives that enhance customer loyalty, brand consistency, and profitability.


Working Conditions

  • Hybrid executive role with frequent engagement across field, regional, and corporate teams.

  • Regular travel to stores, regional offices, and leadership meetings.

  • High-visibility role with national scope and direct influence on frontline operations.

  • Requires managing complex operations across multiple time zones and markets.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $350,000 – $420,000
